The Lemon family in America is of German stock The following record was obtained in 1981 from research done by Mary Harter, F.A.S.C. It was sent to us by Lillian O. Null, of Warren, Ohio. We had met her earlier in the court house in Harrisonburg.

Record of naturalization of John Lemon and his children, contained in Commissioner's Book, no. 82. p. 58. This states that John (II) born ca. 1701, that he was a planter of Baltimore Co., Md., he had been a native of High Germany, naturalized June 4, 1738; born in Germany; died after June 20, 1764; married Maria Anna ______ -- d. probably 1753 to 1759 in Frederick County, Md.


I.     John Lemon (I) from Germany, naturalized in 1738


      II.     1.     John Lemon (II) also born in Germany around 1701 m.
                            Maria Anna ______ - in Frederick Co., Md.

                                Seven children, one of which was George.


                III.     George Lemon (baptised 6-12-1752, sponsors were parents) m.
                            Mary Elizabeth Young; family moved to Botetourt Co., Va., around 1799.
                                Land listed to George Lemon 155A.

NOTE - According to the above website info, they stated:

"There is currently disagreement between respected researchers about whether Agnes Elizabeth Young, d/o John Young and Agnes Elizabeth Davis, was the wife of George Lemon. Some researchers believe Lemon's spouse was instead Mary Elizabeth Young & a totally different individual; while others believe Mary Agnes Elizabeth Young -- was a child named for her grandmother Maria Brunner & her mother Agnes Elizabeth Davis. We are presently hard at work attempting to verify/document the wife of George Lemon."

                        IV.     Andrew Lemon, listed as the 6th son of George and Mary Elizabeth Lemon,
                                    Andrew's wife was listed as Patsy ---.

                                            Andrew appears in the tax lists of Bath County, Va. in 1824.

                                            Elizabeth Jackson  

                                                (First cousin to "Stonewall" Jackson - See Brady family, Betsey Jackson)

                                             NOTE - I tried to verify this relationship to "Stonewall" but I can't. RMB
