Mt. Mitchell, North Carolina

	Road to Mount Mitchell Taken October 1997 from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Mt. Mitchell is not far from Asheville, NC. The summit is the highest point east of the Mississippi River.
Mile and a Quarter This sign appears on the trail to the lookout tower on Mt. Mitchell, letting you know that you are 1.25 miles above sea level. The trail from the parking lot is not too long, but is steep enough to really stretch your legs.
