Roland Franklin Beard Obituary

Beard, 79, Attalla Rt.1, died at a local hospital Saturday at 8:10 a.m. after an extended illness.

Survivors are sons, J.R. Beard and Floyd Beard, Attalla; Marvin Beard, Highspire, Pa.; daughters, Mrs. H.H. Walker, Mrs. T.L. Talton, Mrs. Wesley Roberson, and Mrs. Charles Bowen, Attalla; Mrs. Jean Garner and Mrs. Freddie Roberson, Gadsden; Mrs. Clarence Thompson, Guntersville; sister, Mrs. Alma Duncan, Attalla; 34 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 2 p.m. from the Butler Baptist Church (Rockledge) with the Revs. J.P. Taylor and Emmett Tilley officiating. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. Active pallbearers: Earl Tilley, R.R. Clayborn, J.V. Mims, James Pate, Howard Clifton, Oren Mayo.

Mr. Beard was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a retired farmer. The body will remain at Collier-Butler Parors and lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
