Luther's Early Businesses

st-bnk-1.jpg (45212 bytes)

Very early picture of the Luther State Bank. I believe its original location was on the east side of Main Street but I haven't been able to document that.  I'm still trying to identify the men, but I believe that the one on the right is O. M. Cole and the boy standing next to him is his son, Herman.. Other early officers included John Rinehart, Paul M. Vorel, and Louis Elson.

Later picture of the Luther State Bank, clearly recognizable as the building on the west side of Main Street that later became the Post Office.

engels-old.jpg (60035 bytes) Engel's store in the early days.  Mike Engel standing behind the counter, Mary & children in front.  The customer may be Ed Arthur.
rogers-sta.jpg (86330 bytes) Dawson & Rogers Motor Co., on the north side of First Street between Main & Ash.  Taken in the early 1920s. Later became Rogers' Conoco Station.
