1. Patterson, the WWF North American champion, wins a fictional
tournament to become the first IC champion. In reality, the North American
belt was phased out. The WWWF North American Title was replaced by the WWF Intercontinental
Title. Pat Patterson was champion at the time of the change and was thus the
first Intercontinental Champion.
