WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, 1990s

Note:  there was a version of the WWF Light Heavyweight title, that existed primarily in Mexico in the 1980s and 1990s.  It was unified during the Octuple Jr. heavyweight tournment in Japan in 1996.  When the WWF decided to hold this tournament to crown a new champion, the belt from the Octuple championship was returned and no longer recognized.

Notes:

4. The Pegasus Kid is better known as Chris Benoit.

5. Villano III was stripped of to title after jumping to PROMELL in 01/95 and the title was declared vacant.

6. Defeated Fighter to claim the vacant title.

7. The Great Sasuke defeated El Samurai in the second round of the J-Crown tournament; he also defeated Ultimo Dragon in the final of the J-Crown tournament on August 05, 1996 in Tokyo, JAPAN to become the unified octuple crown champion.

8. On 06/06/97 Liger loses the International Title, one of the eight titles that made up the octuple crown, but retained the other seven titles.

9. El Samurai won the seven titles still comprising the octuple crown.

10. On 11/05/97 Ohtani was forced to vacate the WWF portion of the octuple crown by Vince McMahon.

11.  Michinoku won an 8-man tournament to become the new WWF Light Heavyweight champion.  He defeated Brian Christopher in the final.
