His death certificate clearly shows his year of birth as 1869, the 1900 Pike County Ohio census shows it as 1860

The 1900 Beaver Township, Pike County Ohio Census finds the family as Royal, age 39 Born Oct 1860, Tabitha age 32 born Oct 1867, Dora M. age 13 born Oct 1891, and John A. age 5 born Apr 1895. All born in Ohio

The 1910 Pike County Ohio Census finds them as Royal age 49, Tabitha age 42, Charles age 18, and John age 15
