Dr. Moore

Carl Bersch created this Carte-de-Visite in his studio above
number 20 North Charles Street. The gallery was in business
only from approximately 1880 to 1882 which helps to date the photo.

On the back of the image is the notation
"Album page marked Dr. Moore"
This photo was purchased in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
It was the only image from a Baltimore studio. It was not
in an album at the time.

Dr. Moore's first name and a description of his doctorate
status have been elusive. Nancy Bramucci's Baltimore Physicians
web-page identifies a large number of physicians,
druggists and apothecaries named Moore. Of course, he
need not have been a medical doctor at all.
