Baltimore City Nineteenth-Century Photos

This is Carl Michael Thomas, who was born 1 January
1861 is a little village called Wohlmuthausen in
Saxony-Meiningen. He was a wheelwright for
the American Ice Company in Baltimore, arriving in Maryland sometime in the
1880s. In 1895, he married Catherine Schneider and wrote back to his family
in Germany that he had "married the devil's daughter' which meant that
he wasn't all too fond of his new father-in-law, Ferdinand Schneider. 
Carl died 17 September 1933 in Baltimore.
