Baltimore City Nineteenth-Century Photos

Jakob Yost

Jacob Yost from group photo of Brickyard workmen

Here's a great story, proving that the internet makes this a small world indeed.

The following message was received from Bonnie Proctor
a very distant relative with whom I have communicated for several years,
but never actually met:

"In looking further at your 19th-century photographs website, I discovered the
most unbelievable thing! I am dumbfounded. Under Surnames A-C there is a
photograph listed under Paul Behrendt, Baltimore Brickyard. Jacob Yost--my
g-grandfather--is in that photograph!! "

Bonnie goes on to describe the brickyard as the Fireproof Brickyard. Her
ancestor later opened his own business entitled the Howard Refractories Company
in Dorsey, Maryland where he manufactured bricks.

Jacob Yost is in the first row of standing men, fourth from right (with
mustache).

"Isn't that neat?"

Bonnie has been fortunate enough to discover two additional group photos of
The Baltimore Brickyard. Take a look at these pictures and read the interesting story.
