What to do when Mapquest is WRONG

In Feb of 2008, I dug around Mapquest's website and found an email address to write them in complaint about some errors in their maps. This is the reply I received. As Mapquest is one of the biggest map sites on the web for the USA, I thought I would share this info. If you have any experience with trying to correct google maps or MSN maps or yahoo maps, and you would like to share how to go about it, please email me at timgatewood at netscape dot net (spelled out here to minimize spam).
Dear MapQuest visitor,

Thanks for taking the time to make us aware of this issue. MapQuest is committed to continuous
improvement of our maps and directions.  As part of that effort, we receive and publish data updates
from our partners every calendar quarter.  Our data partners prioritize the content of their updates
independently, however, so we can't guarantee when we'll receive an update that fixes the specific
problem that you reported.

Our primary data partners in North America are NAVTEQ and Tele Atlas.  We'll report this problem to
them through our regular channels.

We suggest that you also report this problem to each of our data providers separately.  Here's the
contact information for each:

Until this issue is actually fixed on MapQuest.com, you might try using a nearby intersection
instead of an exact address, if applicable.  To do so, enter the intersection as simply as possible,
like "Elm & 12TH."

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,
