The best online job sites
2/21/2009
Millions
of people have lost their jobs due to the economy. Looking for a new
job is never an exciting prospect. But getting started is easier than
you think. The first step is to find out who is hiring.
Gone are the days of flipping through the classifieds in a
newspaper. The Web is the place to find a job. There are plenty of
sites that aggregate job postings.
The larger sites contain posts in every field you can imagine. You can search for jobs and post résumés on CareerBuilder.com and Monster.com. Yahoo! Hotjobs features a job search and articles on getting hired.
The large sites are great. But they can miss hidden job posts. Simply Hired and Indeed search
through thousands of job boards. You may find buried gems. And if
you’re looking for a high-paying position, visit The Ladders.
You may be looking for work in a specific industry. Skip the unfocused searching and go to specialized sites. Dice handles tech sector jobs. Jobs in finance are found at eFinancialCareers. Government agencies post ads at USAJOBS. Media professionals can go to Mediabistro.com. And SalesJobs.com is pretty self-explanatory.
You could also tap your professional network through LinkedIn. It’s a social-networking site built around business connections. It also features a very active job board.
