Frequently Asked Questions
What is it?
A chartered service group of the Scottish Rite, created especially for 32nd Degree (“Black Cap”) Masons, designed to foster friendship among the newer members by providing more opportunities for them to be of service to the Memphis Valley and the greater Midsouth community. We are all about more service, more fun and fellowship, and more Scottish in the Scottish Rite. What sort of services does the Chapter provide?
We assist with all the functions of the Memphis Valley, from Reunions to social events, and we are working to develop our own service projects that promote the values of the Scottish Rite and raise funds for the charities of the Rite. What does it cost?
The Initiation fee is $32.00 (this was set to cover costs of regalia --a distinctive badge, lapel pin, and tartan tie). Dues are currently $12.00 per year. Total = $44.00.When does the Chapter meet?
In order to avoid conflicts with other Masonic groups, we currently meet on the 5th Tuesday or 5th Thursday of the month. For 2007, this means our Stated Meetings will be as listed below at 6:00 p.m. at the Memphis Scottish Rite building. We have dinner at 6pm (just $5.00 at the door - no reservation needed), then we have our meeting. We are very grateful to the General Secretary and other Officers of the Memphis Valley for the use of the building.
2007 Stated Meetings: Tuesday, January 30; Thursday, April 12 (changed to avoid conflict with Grand Lodge week); Tuesday, May 29; Tuesday, July 31; Tuesday, August 30; Tuesday, October 30; and Thursday, November 29. Our meetings feature Degree Talks – come to learn more about the Scottish Rite and to get involved in our service projects.Where do I get more information?
