On the west side of Burlingame Road just south of where it crosses over I-470
on the south edge of Topeka, Kansas is the Foster Cemetery.
Originally, this was a family cemetery located on private land owned by Robert G. Foster.
A deed set one acre tract apart by deed in 1867 strictly for burial purposes.
Birthdates recorded on the tombstones date from 1792.
The earliest burial found was 1866.
There may have been earlier burials for which no tombstones were located.
Unfortunately, there are many burials for which the sextons have no record, only obituary data,
funeral parlour records, and family histories indicate burial in Foster Cemetery.
