The building was built in 1881 of Bigelow stone from the Frankfort magnesian limestone quarry. The building is 28x80 feet, the second story finished and furnished as an elegant public hall, with accommodations for about 500 persons, and is still located on the corner of Third & Whiting in Whiting. The mercantile store is on the National Register of Historical Places and is today being refurbished and occupied by Martha’s Mercantile.]
