Rudy Edward Absher

KINGSPORT - Rudy Edward Absher, 55, went to be with his Lord on Sunday (Jan. 23, 2005) after a brief illness.

Rudy was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was a graduate of the 1968 Class of Lynn View High School.

He helped found the Lynn View Pee Wee Football League in 1969, where he was head coach of the Packers for 28 years. The last few years he served on the Advisory Board Committee. He spent 35 years there for the children.

He retired from the Eastman Chemical Company after 28 years of service.

He was of Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Absher.

Surviving are his mother, Clara Absher Dych; wife, Tammy Johnson Absher, of the home; two stepsons, Micheal Carter of Kingsport and Adam Carter, of the home; several aunts, uncles, cousins; two special cousins, Wendy Lingerfelt and Daryll Lingerfelt; and many special friends.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Daryll Lingerfelt officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Yates, Eugene Bellamy, Steve Odom, Duane Bellamy, Jim Davis, Bo Bellamy, John Bellamy, Gary Yates, Jerry McCann, and Robert (Bob) Pyle.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice House and to the staff of Wexford House.
