Gary Bishop

SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. -- Rev. Gary D. Bishop, died Saturday (March 28, 1998) at his residence.
He served as a pastor for 26 years in the United Methodist Church before becoming disabled in 1995. He pastored in the Kingsport, Johnson City and Knoxville, Tenn., and Tazewell and Wythville, Va., districts of the Holston Conference. He was a native of Kingsport.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Bishop, and mother, Ivanell Salyer Bishop; and a brother, Larry Bishop.
Surviving are his wife, the Rev. Betty R. Bishop, pastor of Wesley and Lou's Chapel United Methodist Churches, South Pittsburg, Tenn.; two daughters, Andrea Keys, Blountville, and Leigh Ann Lemmons, Deland, Fla; a son, Gary Trevor Bishop, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Vickie Clark, Knoxville, and Penny Brewer, Charlotte, N.C.; a stepson, Johnny Stallard, Hiltons, Va.; six grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Connie Archer, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. CST today at Rogers Funeral Homes, South Pittsburg.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church, South Pittsburg, Tenn., with the Rev. Dennis Ford and the Rev. Robert Cantrell officiating.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, with the Rev. Dennis Ford officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lou's Chapel or Wesley UMC, South Pittsburg, TN, or the Lupus Foundation or the Arthritis Foundation.

Paul Blankenbeckler

KINGSPORT - Paul R. "Mr. B" Blankenbeckler, 65, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2007 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 19, 1941 in Sullivan County. He was a mem­ber of West View Missionary Bap­tist Church where he taught Sun­day School and Bible School. He graduated from Lynn View High School and ETSU. “Mr. B” retired from Sullivan County Board of Education in 2004 having taught at Sullivan Elementary.

He was a veteran of the USMC and was an avid UT football fan, loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra "Red" Blanken­beckler; his mother, Cora Lee Blankenbeckler; and his brother, Billy "Turk" Blankenbeckler.

He is sur­vived by his wife and caregiver, Louise Blanken­beckler, of the home; two sons, Robin Blankenbeckler and Wayne Blanken­beckler and wife, Sis; one daughter, Karen Mullins and husband, Beeler; two granddaughters, Heather Russell and husband, Jason and Beth Blankenbeckler; two grandsons, Dustin Blanken­beckler and Beeler Mullins; one sister, Linda Humphreys and hus­band, Eddie; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held at West View Baptist Church, 1037 Fairview Ave., on Monday from 5 to7p.m.

Services will follow immedi­ately after with the Pastor Mike Stout officiating.

Music will be by Hugh Severs.

Military graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. conducted by the American Le­gion Hammond post # 3 and Gate City post # 265, in Oak Hill Memo­rial Park, Garden of The Last Supper

Pallbearers will be James Penley, Richard Adams, Dwayne Austin, Jerry Murrell, Terry Beg­ley, Delmar Gillenwater and Ron­nie McPherson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Linda Holloway and Martha Frizzell.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribu­tions be made to West View Mis­sionary Baptist Church, 1037 Fairview Avenue, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660 or to Sullivan Ele­mentary School; 209 Rosemont Avenue, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Jay Burchette

January 24, 1984

KINGSPORT -- Jay D. Burchette, 43, 113 Arley St., Bridwell Heights; died at 1.1 p.m. Monday at his home of on apparent heart attack.

Born in Scott County, Vo., he had resided in Kingsport most of his life and was an, employee of Tennessee Eastman Co. where he was foreman in the Coal Gasification Operation.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Kingsport Lodge #972.

He was also a member of the Baptist church.

Surviving ore his wife, Sharron Cannoy Burchette, Kingsport; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Karen) Cassell and Lisa Burchette, both of Kingsport; a grandson; two brothers, Richard C. Burchette and G. Wayne Burchette, both of Kingsport; and grand­mothers, Mrs., Nannie Payne, Kingsport and Mrs. Lelia Burchette, Pattonsvtlle, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar C., Jr. and Grace Burchette.

Friends may call from 7-9 tonight at Hamlett-Dobson funeral Home downtown chapel.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Gravely Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Crawford and the Rev. F .M. Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
