Jackie Cardwell

Kingsport -- Jackie R. 'Tump' Cardwell, 60, 2167 Moccasin St., Kingsport, died at 9L:40 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 7, 1995) at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical center after a lengthy illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Kingsport, he retired from Holston Defense Corp., in 1993 after32 years of service.  He was a member of Morrison City Christian Church.

He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the Kingsport Moose Lodge No. 792 and the Stone Drive Eagles Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Cardwell; one brother, Jerry Cardwell.

Serviving are his wife, Mrs. Elfriede Cardwell, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. R. B. (Monik) Hensley, Kingsport and Mrs Wes (Marina) Handley, Church Hill; one son, jackie Robert Cardwell, Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren; his mother Mrs. Hazel Cardwell and Jenny Cardwell, oth of Kingsport; three brothers; Kelly 'Doug' Cardwell and David Cardwell, both of Kingsport and Larry Cardwell, Valdosta, Ga.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Grant Miller officiating.

Intirment will be at Oak Hill Mausoleum.

Church Hill - Larry Allen Clawson, Sr., 72, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Appalachia, VA, Larry was a longtime resident of Hawkins County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an honorary member of the VFW Post # 9754 of Church Hill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Patton Clawson.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Stubblefield Clawson of Church Hill; one daughter, Donna Toronjo and husband Mark of Church Hill; two sons, Allen Clawson and wife Diana of Jacksonville, FL, and Pat Clawson and Jackie Lingerfelt of Kingsport; mother, Stella McConnell Clawson of Church Hill; six grandchildren, Stephanie Marsh, Ryan Toronjo, Jacob Clawson, Molly Clawson, Jeffery Clawson and Elizabeth Clawson; two great grandchildren, Autumn Marsh and Ethan Marsh; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 pm Saturday September 19, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill, 1115 Highway 11W, Church Hill, TN

A funeral service will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Owens and Mark Toronjo, officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport where military rites will be conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard and Tennessee National Guard.

Doris Couch (Edwards)

CRESTVIEW,  Fla. -- Doris Couch Edwards, 69, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday (June 4, 2006) after a courageous battle with cancer.
     Born in Liberty, S. C., she was a former resident of Kingsport and had been a resident of Crestview, Fla. most of her life.
     Doris attended Lynn View High School and was a cheerleader and in the first graduating class of Ketron High School in 1955.  She also served four years in the U. S. Air Force.
     She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Hilton; her step-father, Jack Hilton; and a brother-in-law, Phil McGlothlin.
     Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Ed Edwards, of the home, two sons, Timmy Edwards, Crestview, Fla.; daughter, Debbie Mae Edwards, Destin, Fla., five grandchildren; one brother, Dave Couch and wife Linda, Mount Carmel; sister, Gayle McGlothlin, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services and interment will be in Crestview, Fla.

Evelyn Cox (Beck)

KINGSPORT - Evelyn L. Beck, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Monday (Jan. 7, 2002).

She retired from the United Telephone Company and was a devoted wife and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Golden and Della Mae Snyder Cox; and four brothers, George Cox, Jim Cox, Edward Cox and Charles Cox.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Victor Robert (Bobby) Beck, Kingsport; one sister, Margaret Ach, Tacoma, Wash.; one brother, Bill Cox of Kingsport; one godchild, Autumn Brooke Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe W. Byrd officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will meet at the funeral home to proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Cox, Darrell Cox, Naamon Cox, Aaron Cox, Anthony Cox, Robbie Cox, Mike Cox, Tommy Cox, Isaiah Cox, Stacey Cox, David Hale, Gabe Beck and John Weaver.
