Brenda King (Barnes)

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Brenda King Barnes
went to be with the Lord on Friday (Oct. 2, 2009).
Brenda was a loving daughter, sister,
aunt, mother and friend. She graduated from Lynn View High School in
Kingsport in 1960. After graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C.,
while here she worked for Goddard Space Center and the Department of
Interior. Brenda moved to Annapolis, Md. after marrying to work with
her husband at their business. Brenda was gregarious, loved to
travel, and had a desire to be of service to others which resulted in her
becoming an integral part of MADD.
Her love for the Chesapeake Bay area led
to many hours spent sailing and exploring monuments and museums of
D.C. Traveling extensively in the states, as well as,
internationally, she continued to explore, enjoy, and learn about the
people and wonders of our world. One of her favorite trips was to
Alaska where she was privileged to see the Northern Lights.
Brenda was a sophisticated, well-spoken
lady. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, Charles and Bessie King; a sister, Edith King McGuire; a brother
and sister-in-law, Roy and Jean King; and a special friend, Juanita Tate.
She is survived by her husband, Harry
Barnes; and a son, Chris Barnes, both of Annapolis, Md. Other
survivors are Christa Barnes of Baltimore, Md.; a brother Paul King of
Greeneville; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Opal King of Kingsport;
two sisters and their spouses, Oscar and Geraldine Franklin and Roy and
Wilma Pritchett, all of Cleveland, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews and
their spouses; special friends, Linda Cimino, Brenda Parker, Lois Pearcy
and June Wagner, all of Kingsport and her cancer support group.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m.
Thursday at New Life Church of God in Kingsport with the Rev. G. Dennis
McGuire, a beloved nephew officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the American Cancer Society.
