J. D. Odom April 5, 1956 KINGSPORT -- Joshua D. Odom, 55, 220 McNeil St., Kingsport, died Saturday morning at Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Sullivan Count, he was a member of the State Line Baptist Church. He was a supervisor at Tennessee Eastman Company, retiring earlier this year with 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian P. Odom. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean Gott Odom, Kingsport; a daughter, Janet Susan Dinsmore, Kingsport; one son, Steven D. Odom, Kingsport; two grandchildren; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Dana J. Odom, Kingsport, a sister, Wilma Sue Lyon, Kingsport; a stepsister, Joan Droke, Kingsport. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James B. Spivey and the Rev. James B. Spivey Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
