Kingsport -- Mrs. Loyd (Ruth Shipley)
Slaughter, 28, of Route 11, Kingsport, died suddenly Thursday afternoon
at Holston Valley Community Hospital. Officials said death was of
natural causes.
Employed by Kingsport Press for the
past year, she was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a member
of the State Line Mission of Morrison City.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd Zane
Slaughter of Kingsport; one son Loyd Zane Slaughter, Jr.; one daughter,
Gina Coleen Slaughter; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Shipley of Kingsport;
five brothers, Sidney Jr., of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Frank, Neil, Elmer and
Willard Shipley, all of Kingsport; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Rhea of Morrison City.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2
p.m. Saturday in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Cook,
and Rev. E. J. Rowe, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home
where the family will receive friends from 7 o 9 p.m. Friday.

JEFFERSON CITY, TN -- GAYE
STAPLETON HAULSEE, age 69, of Jefferson City, TN went home to be with
her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 28, 2009 following a courageous
battle with cancer.
She was a beloved
wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. Gaye
was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and was
retired after many ears working in bank administration for several area
banks.
She was preceeded
in death by her father and mother, Marzell and Venus Stapleton; brother,
Kenneth S. Stapleton; son-in-law, Donnie Hoover and brother-in-law, Abe
Teague.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Haulsee;
daughters, Leigh Ann Lakins and husband Joe, and Christy Hoover; special
grandsons, Justin R. Lakins and wife Caroline, Jordan T. Hoover and
Nolar R. Epps; sisters, Peggy Teague and Jo Ann (Melvin) Mitchell;
sisters-in-law, Christine Stapleton, Sue Monroe, Cis Taylor and husband
Crockett; brothers-in-law, Pete Haulsee and wife Phyllis, Dave Haulsee
and wife Phyllis; special friends, Mary Darby, Margaret Anderson, Louise
Carter and Violet Reynolds; special niece and nephews, Lori (Tim) Wadell,
Eddit Teague, Joe P. (Sheryl) Teague and Mark Teague.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with
Dr. Gene Wilder officiating.
Interment graveside service will be 10:00 a.m.
Monday, June 1, 2009 at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery in Greenville,
TN.
Pallbearers will be Dale Moyers, Mike Bunch,
Michael Harris, Mike Harris, Luke Norton and Jason Byrd.
The family will receive friends Sunday
afternoon and evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church prior to
the service.

KINGSPORT
-- Gene Stewart, 68, went to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon
(March 30, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center after an extended
illness.
He was born in Hawkins County and was employed
by Purity Bakery for 30 years. He retired from Mustang and Thangs
Association Restoration.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
Johnney Stewart and Lula Everhart Stewart.
Surviving are his son, Jeffery Stewart of
Kingsport; one sister, Mary Trent of Kalamith Falls, Ore.; two
brothers, James Howard Everhart of Kingsport and Dallas C. Stewart of
Blountville; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, Kenneth
Stewart and Coy Huff.
Calling hour are from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Oak
Hill Funeral Home.
Services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Wayne
Hamilton Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Mike Stout
officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Coy Huff, Bob
Flanary, James Church, Raymond Horton, Dan Coakley and Bill Smith.
