Merritt Island, FL -- Sidney Shipley, 74, of Merritt Island, passed away Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Wuestoff Hospital. 

He was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force. 

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Shipley; children, Ken Shipley, Vicky Bell, and Kathy Burrows, and seven grand children. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge. 

Florida Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Lois Slagle (Farmer)

August 13, 1998

Lois Slagle Farmer, 62, 1412 Northcott Circle, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning (Aug. 13, 1998) at her home.
Born in Pennington Gap, Va., she lived in Kingsport most of her life. Mrs. Farmer was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
She was a member of Doran Addition Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Millard Fillmore Slagle; a sister, Ruth Slagle Snyder; and two brothers, Robert Guy Slagle and Kenneth Wayne Slagle.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E. (Bud) Farmer, Kingsport; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Blenda) Anderson, Mrs. Corbin (Mary) Banks Jr., and Mrs. Rick (Rhonda) France, all of Kingsport; two sons, Carl and his wife, Terry Farmer, Church Hill and Glenn Farmer, Mount Carmel; four grandchildren, Dwayne and Tosha Banks, Julie Anderson, Richard France; mother, Garnie Luster, Kingsport; five sisters, Mrs. John (Virginia) Bellamy, Mrs. Emory (Mabel) Pannell, Mrs. Ray (Shirley) Hunter, Mrs. Homer (Rosa) Prillhart, all of Kingsport, and Linda Maggard, Norton, Va.; one brother, Franklin Slagle, Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown chapel.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Smith Sr. officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 6906 Kingston Pike, Suite 201, Knoxville, Tenn. 37919.

Peggy Anne Smith (Francisco)

August 25, 2005

KINGSPORT - Peggy Anne Smith Francisco, 68, passed away Thursday morning (Aug. 25, 2005) at Indian Path Medical Center.

She was born in Hawkins County (Rogersville) and had lived in Kingsport most of her life.

Peggy was a graduate of Lynn View High School in 1954 and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in nursing. She was employed at Holston Valley Medical Center for several years and also Indian Path Medical Center, where she served as Inservice Director. She worked at Resp-I-Care for a number of years until she retired in 2000. She was very active with the American Heart Association and also served as president of the Altrusa International.

Peggy was a member of the North East Church of Christ of Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Smith and Emma Price Smith; and one sister, Emily Bellamy.

Francisco

She is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Francisco of the home; one daughter, Jamie Francisco of Kingsport; three sons, Jeff Francisco of Elizabethton, Jon Francisco and wife, Shannon of Telford, Tenn., and Jack Francisco and wife, Teri of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Jerad Francisco and Abigail Smith; one brother, Robert Smith and wife, Carolyn of Kingsport.

Gladys Irene Sneed Cox, 72, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Bristol Hospice House in Bristol, TN.

She was a life long resident of Kingsport and having graduated from Lynn View High School. She was retired from Arcadia Graphics after over 37 years of service and was a member of Cedar grove Baptist Church.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Fred G. Cox; her parents, Carl and Josie Haynes Sneed; two brothers, William (Bill) Sneed and Charlie Sneed; her sister, Virginia Sneed Mellons and step-mother, Flora Sneed.

Survivors included her two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Charlene Sneed) Catron of Kingsport and Mrs. William (Martha) Burnette of Church Hill; special brother-in-law, Johnny Mellons of Kingsport, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be in the chapel at 3 pm with Rev. Joe Hill officiating. Music provided by her sisters, Charlene and Martha.

Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport. Pallbearers will be her friends and family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 127 Dillon Court, Gray, TN 37615.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Cox family.

Shirley Ann Stark (Hamilton)

January 11, 2005

KINGSPORT - Shirley Ann Hamilton, 69, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2005) at her home following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Hamilton; parents, Hubert Stark and Helen Stark Klass; one brother, Carroll T. Stark.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.

Entombment services will follow immediately on Thursday evening in the Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum #IV.
